Abstract

The theoretical analysis of regularities in colmatation of highly dispersed particles from gas streams in porous fibrous materials influenced by electric field has been carried out in the paper. The paper reveals  that the use of an electric field can significantly increase colmatation efficiency of highly dispersed dp < 0,5 µm sized particles and what is especially important that is colmatation efficiency of the most hard-to-capture dp  0,3 μm sized particles. Its highest values are achieved in the case of charged particle filtration through charged fibers. The colmatation efficiency is increased with higher particle and fiber charge, higher  packaging density and specific surface and decrease of filtration speed.

Abstract

The paper proposes additionally to transmit bidimensional periodic circulation motion to a blanket occurring in the sawing plane surface with the purpose to intensify the sawing process of diamond mono-crystals with simultaneous quality improvement of sawed semi-finished products. An industrial sawing section modernization of the ШП-2-machine tool has been carried out in accordance with the above-mentioned approach. The purpose of the paper is an experimental determination of force value which is exerted on elastic washer by boom support screws in relation to conditions and excitation mode of a vibrating system of the modernized sawing section. The obtained data make it possible to determine optimal excitation parameters of forced vibrations.

CIVIL ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE

Abstract

The paper presents results of experimental investigations and points out the fact that conventional approaches to design and calculations of road pavements that presuppose application of porous asphalt concrete on compact bedding can cause some deformations and destructions initiated due to humidity migration in large internal material pores and lead to material destruction during warm season of the year when water is characterized by high activity. Such processes result in bitumen washing-out, white spot occurrence on the pavement and quick destruction of the pavement.

The paper proposes to reconsider existing approaches to design and calculation of road pavements, estimation of reliability and service-ability levels of the applied construction materials. In particular it is necessary to calculate a road pavement with respect to thermo-physical action while excluding condensate and humidity accumulation in porous materials.

Abstract

The paper reveals that while executing quantitative monitoring of technogenic earth surface deformations in geomechanical tasks geodetic and distance methods for measuring displacement of check points must be uniformly precise. Geometric leveling is recommended to execute on enclosed ground; traverse leveling is more rational to execute on open ground with the help of electronic tachymeter. Satellite leveling is characterized by high productivity and adequate accuracy and it is recommended for creation of reference high-altitude point network that ensures area monitoring with the help of an unified system of geodetic coordinates.

Abstract

Natural foundations of the buildings located in the middle Iraq region are represented by quaternary deposits that have been formed as residue of fine (clay and dusty) particles being transported by low-speed water flow. Density of clay soil is changeable within the following limits 1.38–1.47 g/cm3, and module of general deformation is equal to 1.6–1.9 МPа. In accordance with such characteristics foundation residues reach limit values at contact pressure of  80–100 kPa though design resistance
of soil is within the range of  180–250 kPа. In the case of significant soil load transfer it is necessary to consider variants of deep foundation. In this connection while executing engineering and geological research it is recommended to drill some exploration wells at the depth of 40–60 м.

Abstract

The paper investigates an influence of component quantity (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose) on qualitative (physical and mechanical) indices of waste-paper in relation to its storage period and weather conditions. It has been established that while storing (in waste dumps) waste paper it is to be kept at a definite temperature and humidity in order to reduce impact of weather conditions.

Abstract

Hydrous titanium dioxide has been obtained by hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride in aqueous solution both with and without alcohol. Method of atomic force microscopy has been used in order to investigate morphology of air dried samples of  hydrous titanium dioxide. The paper shows  formation of conglomerates in case of hydrolysis without addition of isobutyl alcohol. According to turbidimetric data particle radius of hydrosol has varied in the suspension within the range of (135 ± 5) nm that is in good correlation with atomic force microscopy data.

Abstract

The method for asymptotic polynomials has been applied to an equation in wing theory which is described with the help of  a singular integro-differential equation. An approximate solution is based on the use of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. Similar solutions were known previously for the spaces C and L2. The paper presents an effective error estimates for the space C, allowing to calculate an error at any point in the reporting period and to determine an extent of the desired polynomial, which will approximate the exact solution in accordance with the given accuracy.
