MECHANICAL SOIL CHARACTERISTICS AT VOLUME DEFORMATION

Abstract

The paper considers directions for reduction of heavy tractor impact on soil and improvement of their traction-energy indices by proper selection of propulsion system parameters. A spatial contact problem while using mathematical apparatus of  continuum mechanics has been solved in order to obtain an acceptable accuracy in calculations.

Analytical investigations based on application of the known finite elements method and the proposed spatial mechanical soil characteristics have been executed in the paper. Traction-energy indices of wheels and soil consolidation under them have been determined on the basis of the calculations on soil displacement and deformation in a contact zone.  Consolidation of surface subsoil which is not subjected to  subsequent cultivation is significantly growing and propulsive efficiency is decreasing while increasing normal wheel loads and preserving contact pressure. Data on mechanical characteristics of real soil are required in order to ensure solution of the listed applied problems.
